Habang Buhay Na Lang Ba Tayo Aasa?

‘Panginoon, tulungan mo po kami sa araw-araw.. Amen.’

Maririnig mo itong panalangin na ito sa mga taong hikahos sa buhay. Hindi man sakto sa salita pero ganun pa rin ang pakahulugan. Wala naman ako masamang ibig sabihin sa  nabanggit ko. Hindi ko naman tinutuligsa ang paniniwala ninyo. Ang nais ko lang ipahiwatig ay ito: Habang buhay na lang ba tayo aasa?

Mahirap man isipin ngunit nangyayari ito sa panahong kasalukuyan. Umaasa  tayo sa swerteng inihahatid sa atin ng mga lotterya, pasugalan, binguhan. Swerte talaga kung sa bawat taya, bawat bagsak ng numero, tumutumpak sa kartada mo. E paano kung hindi, naubos na nga ang pera mo, namumugto pa ang mata mo kasi umuwi kang luhaan. Tignan mo na lang ang nangyari sa stampede sa Ultra. Lahat ay umaasa na makakuha ng ticket upang manalo sa pa-raffle ng Wowowee. Oo nga’t nakakuha ka ng ticket kaso ang kapalit nito ay buhay mo. Isang napakalaking kasayangan.

Hindi natin masisisi ang karamihan. Naghihirap sila e. Karamihan sa kanila ay walang trabaho. Kung meron man, kakarampot lang ang sahod nila. Hindi pa sapat na pantawid sa isang araw. Anu pa’t sa pang-araw-araw. Tapos, napipilitan silang kumapit sa patalim. Magnanakaw, mang-iisnatch. At kapag nagkapera na, imbes na ilaan ito sa mga pangangailangan, saan sila tumatakbo? Dun sa ending, jueteng, loteng.. nagbabakasakaling lumago agad ung pera in an instant!

Hindi masamang umasa na ulanin ng swerte. Hindi rin masamang humingi ng tulong sa Maykapal. Pero ang ikakasagana ng bawat isa ay nanggagaling sa bawat tao. Tayo. Kung walang kikilos ngayon, sino pa? Kung walang magbabago ngayon, kailan pa?
